Liability Insurance
A Constructaquote.com liability insurance policy allows you to combine both public liability insurance and employers' liability insurance into one package, comparing quotes from a number of the UK's leading insurers to find you the best deal:
Public Liability Insurance
Public liability insurance is a necessity if your business comes into contact with members of the public. If your business operations were to injure a member of the public or damage their property in some way, they can make a claim against you for compensation and damages. Public liability insurance covers your business if a claim is made against it. With so many "no-win-no-fee" personal injury lawyers springing up in the last few years, the chance of a claim being made against your business has never been greater, making public liability insurance even more of a necessity.
Businesses that manufactures or sells products should also seriously consider product liability insurance. This type of insurance covers your business if a product you manufacture and/or sell causes the consumer personal injury or damage to their property. Even if you are a retailer and do not actually manufacture the product, if it can be proved that you have been negligent in storing or quality checking the item before selling it on, you can be held liable for a compensation claim.
Employers' Liability Insurance
Every business in the UK that has employees, no matter how many, is required to have a minimum of £10m of employers' liability insurance in place, which covers you against claims made by employees who are injured or become ill while working. Employers' liability insurance not only covers you for the amount of any successful compensation awards, but also for the costs incurred whilst dealing with these claims. Even if you employ sub-contractors, temporary workers, part-time workers, trainees etc., you are still required to have employers' liability insurance, and can in fact be fined up to £2,500 for every day you have traded without it!
